ASKET T-Shirts

Since winter is finally thawing out and turning to spring, I thought it the perfect time to talk about my favourite t-shirt brand. ASKET.

The Scandinavian brand, hailing from Stockholm, is changing the way you buy clothing. They have one permanent collection of classic pieces that will stay in style for years to come. These range from Sweaters to Scarves and Button Downs to Beanies, but we’re here to talk tees.

SIZING:

ASKET has nailed sizing options in every way. If you struggle to find a good fit then ASKET is your answer. There are a total of 15 size options ranging from XS-SHORT to XL-LONG. This is perfect for someone like myself who is on the shorter side and tees tend to sit long. Their 3 methods of measuring make finding your size a breeze. You can make an educated guess, use ‘Virtuzize,’ which allows you to input the dimensions of an item of clothing you already own and compare it to ASKETS sizes, or use their handy measurement chart. I personally used the ‘Virtusize’ and was very happy.

PRICING:

An ASKET tee will set you back roughly £30. Depending on who you ask this can be either considered cheap or expensive. For myself this was on the pricier side, as I was used to buying lower quality. I can, however, tell you that this has completely changed my perspective. I have now set out to spend a little bit extra money, for better quality in all my clothing. With ASKET you are paying for exactly what you get, and in this case, that is a great quality tee that has been ethically produced.

They also provide you with a breakdown of where the cost has come from. I feel this adds a great sense of transparency and honesty, leading me to put trust in the company.

ETHICS:

ASKET also appear to be working hard to understand exactly where every piece of material in their collection comes from. They provide you with a handy tractability guide which shows how much they know about every garment, meaning you can make your decision piece by piece.

Alongside the material itself, ASKET are also determined to show you exactly where everything is made. This means showing the location, staff numbers, working times, and even average wages of each factory.

As a buyer I find this very useful, as in the past I didn’t really consider where my clothing came from, but have grown to understand the importance of tractability.

QUALITY

I suppose this section is the main reason most of you will be reading this article.

The quality of these tees is brilliant, I now own 4 of them, and I haven’t found a better tee yet. They are sturdy, yet comfortable. After multiple washes and wears they continue to hold their shape and colour. They are a perfect staple wardrobe piece that will always be in fashion, so it is definitely worth the investment. The perfect piece for everyday wear.

Forét Studio

Over the past year or so I have been on the hunt for good quality brands who produce well made, stylish items.

Enter, Forét Studio.

Coming from the french word for Forest the Copenhagen based brand aim to take the wearer back to a more natural, slow way of life. Urging you to take a step back, go offline, and enjoy your surroundings. An important mandate in this fast paced, mobile phone driven environment.

They do this by mixing high quality fabrics, earthy tones, and a touch of street style. Creating beautiful pieces ranging from t-shirts and hoodies to shirts and shorts.

My recent purchases from the brand include a Grey Space Hoodie, and a blue/white striped long sleeve t-shirt. Perfect for the upcoming Spring weather.

THE TEE

I had been looking for a striped tee to add to my collection for sometime. Luckily by chance I came across this blue/white striped one in the Forét sale.

It has a nice slim fitting structure, and comfortable fit, perfect for everyday casual wear. The blue and white compliment each other very well, and I tend to pair it with navy chinos, or jeans, and white trainers, great for a spring fit.

My favourite feature of the tee is the higher neck, which gives it a more luxurious high quality feel. It also comes with well structured cuffs, adding to the premium look.

THE HOODIE

I must admit when I first tried on the 100% cotton hoodie I was unsure. My main worries were the slim fit and the feel of the fabric.

If you by any chance frequent my Instagram feed you’ll see that these worries were quashed, and I rarely take it off.

The hoodie is comfortable, well structured, and sturdy. It is a great staple piece that would be at home in your wardrobe for many years.

All in all I would say I’m very impressed with these products, and I can’t wait to see what they produce next.

Winter Coats

Its’s cold outside.

T-shirts and jumpers just don’t cut it anymore.

You need a coat.

My wardrobe is probably too full at the moment, and coats definitely take up their fair share of the room. That’s why I think it’s about time to cut down on them, so I am making a list of which ones I feel best suit the winter conditions.

OVERCOAT

This has only just become a contender for me, as I always struggled to get the right fit. I picked up a navy Mac styled overcoat from ASOS and I couldn’t be happier with it. It is a great coat no matter what the occasion.Worn with a pair of trainers and a hoodie creates an effortlessly casual look, and worn with the right suit, looks exceptional. These wool coats are certain to keep you cosy and classy during the winter months.

PEA COAT

This has been a firm favourite of mine ever since I saw Arctic Monkey’s front man Alex Turner don one. I know he is nowhere near the first person to rock the classic jacket, but he is definitely the one who sparked my interest. The Pea Coat has the ability to look great with any outfit you choose. A black coat paired with black jeans and black Chelsea Boots exudes rock’n’roll, however, also looks perfect paired with a shirt and jumper, or anywhere in between. Like the Overcoat, Pea Coats are typically made of wool, so will still keep you warm while looking cool.

PUFFER JACKET

In my opinion definitely the warmest jacket on the list. The puffer is perfect for those long countryside walks, or cold city centre mornings. I recently picked mine up from Jack Wills, in black. I tend to style it with an all black look as I’m not fond of mixing black jackets with blue jeans (each to their own I suppose). It’s fair to say this jacket has stood up to whatever has been thrown at it, including cold, windy mornings on Scottish beaches.

SHERPA

Although not the bulkiest jacket on the list, the Sherpa is definitely the one to go for if you wish to keep the casual style in full flow. I would typically where a hoodie underneath on those colder days to keep the chill completely out. This jacket will also work perfectly throughout the Autumn and early Spring.

Top 5 Items of 2018

2018 flew by, and there are many items I fell in love with.

From clothes to clocks, and books to bulbs.

It’s hard to pick favourites.

But here’s my best shot.

ASKET T-SHIRTS

After falling for Scandinavian style and quality early in the year ASKET were the first brand I decided to explore, and I don’t regret it. Their ethically produced capsule pieces are perfection, and the classic tee is their stand out. They come in a massive 15 size options, and 8 classic colours. This is great for someone like myself, who is on the shorter side. When it comes to the quality, I haven’t worn a better tee yet. The material is sturdy, yet comfortable. Perfect for everyday wear.

THE LITTLE BOOK OF HYGGE

If you are like me reading a full novel can be a struggle. This is why the ‘LITTLE’ book was perfect. The coffee table nature of this book made it easy to pickup and put down. ‘Meik Wiking’ successfully explores the Danish need for all things ‘hygge.’ Although after reading it I still can’t pinpoint exactly what ‘hygge’ is. I feel it lies somewhere between a cosy Sunday morning with a book and a cup of hot chocolate, and spending meaningful time with family and friends in a chilled environment. Whatever it is, this book will certainly put a smile on your face. I would highly recommend it.

DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH

This watch may hold a lot of sentimental value as a graduation gift, but, this is not why is makes the list. The simplistic elegance of this timepiece makes it a perfect addition to any of your outfits. Be it with blue jeans and a white tee, or poking out of a suit sleeve. You will receive only compliments.

REEBOK CLUB C TRAINERS

As much as I like every other item on this list, the Reebok’s are the stand out piece. Before I purchased the Club C’s I was wearing almost exclusively shoes and boots, and was growing tired of the formal look. It was then at a Designer Outlet store they caught my eye, I decided to try them on, and they haven’t left my feet yet. Having worn them all summer, they still feel incredibly comfortable. Yes, they may now be starting to look less bright white, but will still remain on my feet throughout 2019.

ELECTRIC ECCENTRICITY MOON LIGHT

The moon is the most recent and probably most quirky item on this list. I love the option to switch between a warm orange glow and a subtle silver shimmer, helping to suit any mood. The unusual style is certain to draw attention, and illuminate any corner of your room.
